PESHAWAR: Advisor to the KP Chief Minister on finance and Interprovincial Coordination, Muzzammil Aslam, has responded to Maryam Nawaz’s statements, saying that it’s a good thing if, according to the Chief Minister of Punjab, she won’t take loans, but when will the flood victims of Punjab start receiving financial compensation?

KP Finance Advisor said, that If the Punjab government hasn’t even assessed the flood damages yet, then when will the disbursement of funds to the flood victims begin?” Muzzammil Aslam said that the Punjab government often copies Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s projects and its dignity. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa paid compensation to flood victims within three weeks; they should copy Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in this case.

He further said that, according to Maryam Nawaz, it seems like anything beyond Murree, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is not part of Pakistan, while not a single brick has been added to Murree’s Mall Road since British times.

The KP Finance Advisor stated, on the other hand, a Hilton Hotel has been constructed in Nathia Gali at a hefty cost of Rs. 12 billion.” Muzzammil Aslam said that in Thandiani, under a public-private partnership, investors have shown interest in building the country’s largest hotel.” He added that how many of people visited Murree in a year, compared to Nathia Gali where 10 million tourists arrived in a single year?

The KP Finance Advisor said that even Mian Nawaz Sharif chose Nathia Gali over Murree for his retreat. Muzzammil Aslam noted that in 78 years, Murree still doesn’t have its own water supply and relies on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for water. He added that Punjab owes Rs. 64 billion in water bills to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If there is truly any dignity, then Punjab should immediately pay KP its water dues.
