The ongoing election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan has entered its final phase, and today is the last day of the election campaign.
The election campaign will officially end after 12:00 Am midnight, with the election code of conduct coming into effect. Political activities are at their peak in various constituencies, while political alliance, contacts, and support continued till late at night. During this, a candidate of the Muslim League (Q) also announced his withdrawal in favour of the Pakistan People’s Party.
On the other hand, strict security arrangements have been made in Gilgit city to ensure the peaceful conduct of the elections. Additional FC and police personnel have been deployed at various sensitive locations, while more personnel will also be deployed on polling day.
According to security officials, 49 polling stations in Constituency Number One, Gilgit, have been declared highly sensitive, while 39 polling stations have been declared sensitive. All 91 polling stations in Constituency No. 2, Gilgit, are in the sensitive category. Similarly, 14 polling stations in Constituency No. 3 Gilgit have been declared highly sensitive and 17 as sensitive.
Security agencies are on alert to deal with any untoward incident, and a comprehensive strategy has been formulated to maintain law and order during the election process. After all the arrangements are complete, all eyes are now on the polling day, where voters will decide the fate of the candidates by exercising their right to vote. The electoral battle in Gilgit-Baltistan has entered its decisive phase, and the political temperature remains high.
