SWABI: Swabi police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a three-member gang involved in the trafficking of a teenage girl and safely recovered the girl from their possession.

According to the Swabi police, a police team from the Lahore Police Station successfully conducted an operation against the gang on a tip-off and apprehended them while recovering the 12-year-old minor girl from their possession safely.

Police said the group, consisting of three members, was involved in selling a 12-year-old minor girl, Tafila Sania, to a 38-year-old man in Punjab for fifty thousand rupees.

The girl’s mother, Tanzeem Bibi, grandfather Syed Kamal, residents of Lahore, and buyer Manzar Abbasi, resident of Latifwal, Chakwal, involved in this heinous act, have been arrested and handed over to police custody.

Swabi police stated that it was revealed during the initial investigation that the accused had arranged a formal marriage of the minor girl after receiving the money.

They said upon receiving information about the incident, SHO Lahore Police Station Haroon Khan, led by DSP Circle Lahore Zardad Khan, along with police personnel, took immediate action and arrested the accused.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant provisions, and further investigation is underway, while necessary steps are being taken to provide legal protection to the victim girl.

KP police rescue girl allegedly sold for half a million

The Upper Dir police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have successfully rescued a minor girl who was sold within the jurisdiction of the Wadi police station. Three suspects involved in the incident have also been arrested.

According to the police, they received information about the sale of a minor girl from the Wadi Karodra area. In response, Regional Police Officer Malakand Syed Fida Hassan Shah and District Police Officer Upper Dir Aslam Nawaz took immediate action and issued directives for a thorough investigation.

Following these instructions, a special investigation team was formed, consisting of SP Investigation Muhammad Ilyas, SDPO Wadi Shahanshah Khan, and SHO Wadi Police Station Taj Muhammad Khan.

During the investigation, authorities discovered that the girl, aged between 12 and 13, had been sold to a man aged between 60 and 65 for Rs 500,000. The police successfully recovered her using modern investigative techniques.

As a result of the operation, three suspects—Yousuf Khan, Maqsood Ahmed, and Murtaza—were arrested. The police are continuing their investigation to identify and bring to justice any additional individuals involved in this heinous crime. After the completion of legal procedures, the minor girl will be handed over to the appropriate institutions.
