BAJAUR (Abbas Khan, Umar): A firing incident in the Lowi Mamond area of Bajaur left two people dead and one injured here on Sunday late evening. Divisional Police Officer, Niaz Khan said.

According to the police official, the firing incident took place in the Tarkho area, where unknown assailants opened fire at the people, resulting in the deaths of two persons and one was injured.

DSP Niaz Khan said the dead bodies and injured had been shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Khar, whereas a search operation has been launched in the area to trace out the culprits.

The police have identified the deceased as Ajmal Khan and Omar, while the injured as Sajid Khan.

Bajaur is one of the most affected districts that has been hit hard by terrorism in recent years, where multiple deadly terror events have occurred and caused mass casualties.

The Awami National Party (ANP) tehsil leader was gunned down by unknown assailants near the Khazana turn in Bajaur.

According to the police, Malik Mir Azam Khan, the vice president of the Awami National Party for Tehsil Khar chapter, was on his way home when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire, killing him instantly.

The Rescue 1122 officials said that the assailants targeted him from a motorcycle. Malik Mir Azam Khan sustained a gunshot wound to the head, resulting in his death at the scene.

The Awami National Party has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and demanded a thorough investigation and the apprehension of those responsible.
