CHILAS: Gilgit-Baltistan Police has issued a travel advisory announcing a complete closure of the Chilas-Babusar route for all types of traffic from 31 May to 2 June, 2026.Why the road is closed.

Officials said snow and debris removal operations are underway at Babusar Top and Gatti Das. Construction and restoration work is also progressing rapidly to make the Babusar highway two-way. Due to public safety concerns, authorities decided to suspend traffic.

Travel will remain suspended between Zero Point, Babusar, and Lulusar Lake. The Babusar highway has been temporarily closed to convert the road into a two-lane route.

Anyone heading to Babusar must check route conditions before starting the journey. Transporters have been directed to use alternative routes during the 3-day closure. The Babusar route will remain closed for three days. GB Police will issue updates once the road reopens.

Officials urged the public to cooperate and avoid unnecessary travel on the route until work is completed.
