PESHAWAR: More than 20 members of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, according to sources.
The members assembly has raised concerns over what they describe as deteriorating governance and law and order in the province.
They reportedly believe that the chief minister has been unable to effectively assert authority over the bureaucracy, alleging that some officials are more responsive to the federal government than to the provincial administration.
Sources further claimed that the legislators had repeatedly conveyed their concerns to the chief minister, but no significant action had been taken to address them.
The lawmakers are also reportedly dissatisfied with the distribution of development funds and the delay in the expansion of the provincial cabinet.
According to the sources, the disgruntled members are likely to convene a separate meeting in the coming days to discuss their concerns and formulate a future course of action.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafee Jan strongly rejected reports of divisions within the provincial government, describing them as false, fabricated and baseless.
He said those hoping to see factionalism among PTI lawmakers in the province would be disappointed, adding that all members of the provincial assembly remain united under the leadership of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
The minister further maintained that the chief minister continues to enjoy the complete confidence and support of PTI’s founding chairman.
