ISLAMABAD: The retail price of cement in the country has decreased over the past week. Cement prices recorded a downward rally in the last few weeks.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the average retail price of cement per sack in the northern regions was recorded at Rs 1,521 last week, down from Rs 1,526 the previous week.

In the southern regions, the average retail price per sack of cement was Rs 1,537 last week, compared to Rs 1,540 the week before.

Earlier this month, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported an increase in cement prices across the country due to the current energy issues.

According to the latest data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, there has been a slight increase in cement prices across the country over the past week. During the week ending March 26, prices in both northern and southern cities rose compared to the previous week.

In northern cities, the average price of cement increased from Rs 1,476 to Rs 1,482 per sack, reflecting a rise of 0.43 per cent. In southern cities, the average price saw a more significant increase of 1.20 per cent, going from Rs 1,471 to Rs 1,489 per sack.

When examining prices in various northern cities, Bahawalpur has the highest price at Rs 1,533 per bag. Other prices include Rs 1,400 in Bannu, Rs 1,441 in Islamabad, Rs 1,433 in Rawalpindi, Rs 1,520 in Gujranwala, Rs 1,510 in Sialkot, Rs 1,509 in Lahore, and Rs 1,450 in Faisalabad. In other cities within Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, prices are Rs 1,500 in Sargodha, Rs 1,513 in Multan, and Rs 1,493 in Peshawar. These price differences can be attributed to variations in supply and transportation costs across different cities.
