WASHINGTON: The US military’s Central Command says it has carried out airstrikes targeting drone-related infrastructure in southern Iran, including facilities used for drone launch operations and vessels allegedly involved in mine deployment.

In a statement quoted by American news agencies, the United States Central Command stated that American forces had undertaken strikes against launch facilities for drones in Iran’s southern areas.

The US strikes against Iranian vessels were said to target those which were laying naval mines in the regions and causing hostilities in the area.

According to CENTCOM’s statement, the strikes were carried out in a restrained way within a current ceasefire period in the area while still protecting themselves.

The statement did not provide any independent confirmation on whether or not there has been any damage caused in the process or even any casualty.

It should be noted that this report has come at the time when there were already high tensions existing in the gulf area between America and Iran.
