What key decisions taken in the KP cabinet meeting?
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet approved challenging the federal tax imposed by the federal government on the transfer of immovable property in court and termed the imposition of tax on immovable property as the jurisdiction of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Briefing journalists regarding the cabinet meeting, Adviser to the Chief Minister on information, Barrister Saif, said that important decisions were taken in today’s cabinet meeting. He said that the cabinet allowed the concerned deputy commissioners to use money from the relief fund to provide transport facilities to Afghan refugees who are voluntarily returning home.
He informed that the meeting approved a grant-in-aid of Rs. 1 billion to the Galiat Development Authority and other authorities for the improvement of infrastructure, beautification, and cleanliness in tourist places in connection with the promotion of tourism. The cabinet approved the outsourcing of some schools and colleges on a pilot basis to increase the enrolment rate in government schools and improve the quality of education. Those schools and colleges in which the enrolment is extremely low will be outsourced, Barrister Saif told.
He further said that outsourcing will not affect the employment of teachers posted in these educational institutions, and even after outsourcing, education in these schools will be provided completely free of cost, and all expenses will be borne by the provincial government.
The cabinet approved the Women’s Property Rights Rules 2025 to protect women’s rights in property. The meeting approved the appointment of the new chairperson and members of the Women’s Commission. The cabinet approved the establishment of two new districts, named Paharpur District and Upper Swat District. The cabinet approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mountain Agriculture Policy, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa became the first province in the country to introduce the Mountain Agriculture Policy. The meeting also approved the Pharmacy Services Policy. The Pharmacy Services Policy is the first of its kind in the country.
Barrister Saif informed that the cabinet approved Rs. 100 million for the provincial capital, Peshawar, and Rs. 50 million for other divisional headquarters for tree plantation in urban areas. The cabinet approved special compensation for the families of the martyrs during the incidents in Bajaur, Tirah, Kurram, Wana, and other districts. Barrister Dr. Saif
The meeting approved Rs. 45 lakh for the treatment of two cancer patients and one bone marrow patient. The cabinet approved grants-in-aid for various bar associations of the province. The cabinet also approved grants-in-aid of Rs. 40 million for three non-governmental organizations working in the fields of health and special children’s education.
