The land connection between Chitral and Peshawar has been cut off due to continuous heavy rains, flash floods and landslides at various places since last night, the Chitral-Peshawar road has been closed for all types of traffic, causing severe difficulties for the passengers.

According to local sources, the floodwaters generated as a result of the heavy rains that occurred late last night have severely damaged a large part of the road, due to which the traffic flow has been completely suspended.

Landslides in Darosh and especially Kalkattak areas of Chitral have blocked the highway and long lines of vehicles were seen in the area.

Due to the lack of prompt action or delay by the administration, the locals are busy with relief activities on their own. People are trying to temporarily restore the road and evacuate the stranded passengers on their own.

The administration has directed the passengers to avoid travelling on this highway until the road rehabilitation work is completed.
