ISLAMABAD: Commuters stranded due to traffic disruption on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway near 26 Number are suffering in the scorching heat as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi, halted the traffic for several hours.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s convoy was stopped at the entry point of the federal capital, Islamabad, after which the traffic flow was severely affected.
Long queues of vehicles formed for about 10 kilometres on the motorway leading to Islamabad, due to which passengers were stranded for hours.
The Chief Minister is adamant that we will go to Adiala from GT Road, while the Islamabad Police says that there is a route from Chakri Interchange that goes to Adiala, we should take that route.
In addition, bitter words were also exchanged between the police and the Chief Minister at No. 26 Chungi.
Due to this, passengers are facing long delays and difficulties, and they are seen complaining about this stubbornness of the Chief Minister, while the traffic police are also trying to divert vehicles to alternative routes.
This situation has created great anger and concern among the passengers entering Islamabad from the motorway side.
On the other hand, the citizens of Peshawar, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Swabi and Lower Dir have strongly criticised the provincial government and Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, rejecting their performance.
According to the feedback received from various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a survey, there is no sign of good governance in the province at present and criminal elements are roaming freely.
Citizens say that instead of solving public problems, the administrative head of the province, Sohail Khan Afridi, is spending all his energy and time on visiting Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi and political manipulation, which has left the province abandoned.
During the movement of the convoy of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a severe traffic jam situation arose in the city, due to which long queues of vehicles formed on several roads.
According to sources, some ambulances also got stuck in traffic during the traffic jam, which caused difficulties in transferring patients. Due to the intense heat, citizens had to wait for long periods on the streets and faced difficulties at various places.
