PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that there is no such thing as governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and mismanagement and corruption have reached their peak in the province.

He alleged that the provincial government is using public funds for its own political gain and lavish spending instead of spending them on the welfare of the province. The federal minister raised strong questions over the recent major expansion in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet. He took the position that There is no clear or concrete merit for the appointment of the current ministers and advisors.

The only criterion for appointment to these positions seems to be “incompetence”.Attaullah Tarar raised the question that “Will increasing the number of cabinet members bring any improvement in the governance of the province, which has not improved in the last 12 years?”

The Information Minister said that the administrative and financial affairs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are going through the worst period in history. In the past, the conditions of the province were never as bad as they are now. He said that instead of spending the public’s tax money on development projects and basic facilities such as health, education and infrastructure, it is being wasted on political rallies, sit-ins and a lavish lifestyle.

This statement comes at a time when Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, on the recommendation of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, recently approved the inclusion of 18 new members including ministers, advisors and special assistants in the provincial cabinet. Following this expansion, questions are being continuously raised by the opposition and the federation about the provincial government’s austerity policies and economic priorities.
