Bangladesh has strengthened its grip on the match in the ongoing second Test against Pakistan in Sylhet. In Bangladesh’s second innings, the batting is underway against Pakistan. The Bangladeshi team has scored 203 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
Bangladesh has a lead of 250 runs against Pakistan in the match. Bangladesh captain Najamul Hasan Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim started the third day’s play with 110 runs and three wickets. Bangladesh suffered their fourth loss at 115 when Najmul Hasan Shanto was bowled out lbw by Khurram Shahzad for 15.
At the end of the second day, Bangladesh were 110 for 3 in their second innings. Mahmood Hasan Joy scored 52, Mominul Haq scored 30, and Tanzeed Hasan scored 4 runs; Najmul Hasan Shanto was not out on 13 runs. Khurram Shahzad took 2 and Mohammad Abbas took one wicket.
Earlier, Pakistan had bowled out Bangladesh for 232 runs in their first innings. Pakistan started the second day’s play on 21 for no loss, but both openers lost their wickets soon, with Azan Owais 13 and Abdullah Fazal 9. Captain Shan Masood returned to the pavilion after scoring 21 runs, Babar Azam was dismissed for 68 runs, Saud Shakeel 8, Salman Agha 21, and Mohammad Rizwan scored 13 runs. Hasan Ali was dismissed for 18, Sajid Khan 38, and Khurram Shahzad 10 runs, while Mohammad Abbas could not score any runs.
For Bangladesh, Naheed Rana and Tejul Islam took 3 wickets each, 3 and Taskin Ahmed and Mehdi Hassan Miraz took 2 wickets each. On the first day of the match, the Bangladesh team was all out for 278 runs in its first innings. Liton Das played a brilliant innings of 126 runs. For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad took 4 wickets, Mohammad Abbas 3, Hassan Ali 2, and Sajid Khan took one wicket.
Azan Owais and Abdullah Fazal opened the innings for Pakistan, and by the end of the first day’s play, Pakistan had scored 21 runs without any loss. Earlier, national team captain Shan Masood won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. Three changes have been made to the Pakistani team for the second Test, with Babar Azam, Khurram Shahzad, and Sajid Khan replacing Imam-ul-Haq, Shaheen Afridi, and Noman Ali.
It should be noted that Bangladesh has a one-nil lead in the Two-Test series, as Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 104 runs in the first Test match.
