LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the distribution of 100,000 electric bikes to students across the province as part of a major youth mobility and clean transportation initiative.
During her speech at the 21st convocation ceremony of Lahore College for Women University, the Punjab CM observed that her government was determined to provide easy transportation facilities to young students in order to help them concentrate on their studies.
As per details, under previous phases of this programme, the Punjab government distributed scholarships among almost 100,000 students and electric bikes among 30,000 students.
“It is important that students should have modern and comfortable means of transport in order to ensure their comfort in their educational journey,” she remarked.
Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz also pointed out several other developments in which her government has taken steps towards empowering the womenfolk and ensuring their security, as she stated that women are being employed in key administrative and law enforcement positions for the very first time in the history of Punjab province.
Moreover, Chief Minister also mentioned that her government was developing infrastructures, maintaining law and order, and implementing economic policies at the same time, as she referred to the students as “the future of the country.”
Talking about the program of electric bikes, Maryam Nawaz said that this step has been taken as part of an overall vision of promoting sustainable transport solutions along with alleviating the burden on the pocket of the students.
The students present in the gathering at the ceremony welcomed the step with great appreciation.
