WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has accused Iran of engaging in decades-long deception and warned that the United States will no longer tolerate its actions.

Speaking on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump alleged that Iran has misled the US and the world for 47 years and recently killed 42,000 innocent protesters.

Trump criticized former President Barack Obama, claiming that his administration was overly accommodating to Tehran, overlooking Israel and other allies, and effectively revitalizing Iran’s power. He asserted that hundreds of billions of dollars including $1.7 billion in cash were delivered to Iran during Obama’s tenure, with funds reportedly transported in suitcases and bags, overwhelming Iranian officials who had never seen such amounts before.

He described Iran as having exploited every opportunity to manipulate global powers. He said, “For 47 years, Iran has deceived us, delayed us, attacked our people with roadside bombs, and suppressed protests. They laughed while committing these atrocities, but that will no longer happen.”

Trump characterized his own administration as stronger and less complacent than previous ones, emphasizing that Iran will face stricter accountability moving forward.

PM Shehbaz Sharif confirms Tehran’s response on US talks

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that Pakistan has received Iran’s response regarding negotiations with the United States.

Speaking at the first anniversary ceremony of the Pakistan Monument’s “Marka-e-Haq” event in Islamabad, the Prime Minister stated that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had just informed him that Tehran’s response to the US has been delivered to Pakistan.

Earlier, Iranian news agencies reported that Iran had submitted its reply on US proposals aimed at ending the ongoing conflict. According to the proposed plan, the current phase of negotiations is focused exclusively on reducing regional tensions.

It should be noted that previously, the foreign ministry of Iran expressed its position that Tehran would conduct its internal assessment of the American offers prior to making any official announcement.

Pakistani mediation took place following the end of hostilities that commenced on February 28 after about 40 days. The talks conducted by American and Iranian officials in Islamabad constituted the first direct negotiations in over four decades between the two nations.

No final decision has been made so far as both parties continue proposal US President Donald Trump previously stated that, at Pakistan’s request, the ceasefire would be extended indefinitely.
