ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has paid tribute to the nation and the armed forces on the first anniversary of the Battle of Haq (Marka-e-Haq) and Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos.
In his statement, the Prime Minister said that Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos demonstrated the professionalism and excellent military capabilities of our forces. Under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the armed forces successfully defended the sovereignty and dignity of the motherland. The Battle of Haq will always be remembered as a symbol of national unity and steadfastness.
Shahbaz Sharif saluted the brave sons and daughters in uniform, and also made it clear that Pakistan is committed to peace, but there will be no compromise on its territorial integrity and national dignity. The entire nation is proud of its martyrs and ghazis whose sacrifices are the foundation of our freedom. The Prime Minister also raised the slogan of Pakistan Zindabad at the end of his message.
While President Asif Ali Zardari also paid tribute to the entire nation and the armed forces on the first anniversary of the Battle of Haq.
The President of the country described the leadership, strategic thinking, and bold decisions of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as key to the historic success, and also appreciated the professional skills of the Air Chief Marshal and the pilots of the Pakistan Air Force, as well as the operational preparedness of the naval forces.
In his message, President Zardari made it clear that Pakistan is a peace-loving state, but no compromise will be made on the defense of the homeland. He termed India’s attempt to suspend the Indus Water Treaty as ‘water terrorism’ and said that water is the lifeblood of millions of Pakistanis.
The President of the country stressed the need to resolve the issue of occupied Kashmir in accordance with UN resolutions, and also made it clear to Afghanistan that it should not allow its territory to be used for terrorism against Pakistan.
In his message, the President of the country also said that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Iran-US conflict are being appreciated at the global level.
