ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted dust, thunderstorms, and rain in the upper parts of the country from 10th May to 12th May.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a fresh westerly wave is likely to approach the northern parts of the country on 10th May and is likely to persist in the upper parts till 12th May night.
Under the influence of this weather system, dust-thunderstorms and rain are expected in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Balakot, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Peshawar, Bajaur, Mohmand, Orakzai, Khyber, Kohat, Kurram, Hangu, and Karak.
During this period, in Punjab and Islamabad, including Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Khushab, Joharabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, from 10th evening to 12th May, with occasional gaps.
While rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected in Gilgit Baltistan, Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Guanche, and Shigar.
Accroding to Met office during this spell rain and thunderstorm is aslo predicted in Kashmir, Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur from 11th to 13th May with occasional gaps.
Dust-thunderstorm and rain are likely to bring relief from hot weather in upper parts while very hot weather condition is expected to continue in southern parts south Punjab, Sindh, and parts of Baluchistan.
Met office issued possible impacts and advises of the weather pattern as windstorm and lightning may damage weak structures like electric poles, bill boards, solar panels etc.
During the forecast period farmers are advised to manage their crops in accordance with the duststorm and rain, especially during wheat harvesting. Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the forecast period. Tourists and travelers are advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travelling during the forecast period.
All concerned authorities are advised to remain Vigilant and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation during the forecast period.
