The Pakistan Metrological department has predicted that the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will witness increase in heat intensity, while the weather is expected to remain pleasant in the northern areas.
According to the latest report issued by the Meteorological Department and PDMA, the weather conditions in different parts of the province will remain hot. The sun is blazing in the provincial capital Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera and Mardan.
Today, the maximum temperature in Peshawar is likely to reach 38 degrees Celsius, however, due to the humidity, it can be felt up to 40 degrees. In the southern districts, namely Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu, the mercury may exceed 40 degrees, due to which citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun.
The weather is mild and pleasant in Abbottabad, Mansehra and Galiyat. The temperature here is expected to be between 26 to 28 degrees. However, dusty winds and light drizzle are expected at a few places in the afternoon or evening.
The weather is very pleasant in the northern areas including Gilgit, Skardu and Hunza. The temperature in Skardu is expected to be 21 degrees while in Gilgit it is expected to be 25 degrees.
Meteorologists have warned that due to rising temperatures, the process of melting snow in the upper areas may accelerate, which may cause flooding in the rivers and canals. Tourists have been urged to exercise caution while traveling in the mountainous areas.
