ISLAMABAD: Canadian authorities have announced significant changes to the country’s immigration framework, introducing stricter rules aimed at enhancing transparency, security, and oversight within the system.
The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has launched a public awareness drive to enlighten people about these changes. The amendments being made include new regulations in regard to Bill C-12, which are said to ensure modernization of the immigration process in addition to addressing new security issues.
According to official announcements, the changes introduced in the immigration policy entail the introduction of tougher conditions for refugees and asylum seekers from specific countries. It has been suggested that late application of such people even after their arrival in Canada might lead to rejection of their case.
This is taking place at a time when Canada has realized the need to control the immigration process since the population is growing rapidly in the country. At the same time, changing immigration restrictions in the US are offering other options for highly qualified employees.
According to the new rules, there will be increased powers among the authorities to suspend or even cancel immigration processes including permanent residency, temporary resident visa applications, and work/study permits, based on security or national interests.
This will also enhance cooperation between federal and provincial agencies due to information-sharing systems that are intended to improve the identification of any possible threats.
Furthermore, the process of filing asylum applications can only take place if the applicant is physically present in Canada. There will also be cases of termination if the individual decides to leave the country, to which he claims that there was some threat. Moreover, if there is any lack of information and interview, then the process of application can be discontinued.
The officials suggest that applicants try to stay away from any illegal means and provide complete information.
