Serious irregularities have been revealed in the financial assistance allocated to deserving women under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) in Bannu.

According to sources, a list of 145 government employees across the district has come to light who allegedly received financial assistance from the Benazir Income Support Program under the guise of deserving people.

Sources said that the government has been strictly monitoring the distribution of BISP funds for some time now to ensure transparent distribution of BISP funds. In this regard, detailed data was obtained from NADRA, relevant government departments and other institutions, after which this list was compiled.

According to initial investigations, these government employees either received these funds themselves or used their names and details as deserving people. According to officials, the aim of the Benazir Income Support Program is to provide financial assistance to the poorest and neediest sections of society, especially deserving women, so that they can meet their basic needs.

However, the use of this facility by government employees is not only a violation of rules and regulations but also amounts to robbing the rights of the actual beneficiaries. Sources said that action has been initiated against 145 government employees included in the list. Legal and administrative steps are being taken to recover all the money received from these individuals.

Instructions have been issued to the concerned departments to verify the details of the employees included in their respective institutions and ensure immediate recovery of the due amount. According to government sources, if further irregularities are found during the investigation, departmental action as well as legal action will be taken against the responsible parties.

In this regard, transparency, accountability and protection of the rights of the actual beneficiaries have been declared the top priority. Social circles have expressed concern over this revelation and demanded that indiscriminate action be taken against such elements so that the reputation of the welfare programs is restored and the relief funds reach only the real beneficiaries.

Public circles say that there should be no room for any kind of corruption or misuse in an important social security program like BISP. It should be noted that in recent years, the government has made the process of modern digital systems, biometric authentication and data verification more effective to bring transparency in social welfare programs, as a result of which it has been possible to identify such irregularities.
