SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: At least nine security forces personnel were martyred and eight others sustained injuries when their vehicle was struck with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Monday late at night in the Tehsil Sarveki area of South Waziristan.
Local sources told Pakhtun Digital that the incident occurred in the Maula Khan Sarai village of Tehsil Sarvekai of South Waziristan Upper. The blast sounds were heard in the surrounding areas. According to police sources, nine security forces personnel were martyred and eight others were injured in the attack.
According to police sources, a search operation was launched by cordoning off the area, and further investigation into the incident is underway. According to police sources, the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. The condition of two of the injured is said to be critical. According to security forces sources, after providing first aid, the injured were shifted to Scouts Hospital Wana.
It is worth mentioning here that this is the biggest terrorist attack in South Waziristan since December 2024, when 16 security personnel were martyred in the December attack.
It should be noted that since 2023, the situation in South Waziristan Upper, South Waziristan Lower, North Waziristan, and the southern districts of Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Karak, and Dera Ismail Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become extremely tense due to which attacks on security forces and police have intensified day by day. in addition to the massacre of innocent civilians, kidnapping of tribal elders, traders, and other government officials, including police personnel, have increased.
On the other hand, no official statement has been made by the ISPR, but local civil administration sources and police have confirmed the incident.
