SOST: In a landmark development for regional trade, the first-ever commercial truck from Kyrgyzstan has successfully arrived at the Sost Dry Port in Pakistan, transporting transit goods under a historic cross-border movement.

This event marks a significant shift in regional logistics, as it represents the first time a Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) nation has utilised its own transport fleet for such a journey into Pakistan. The operation was executed by a partner company of the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) based in Kyrgyzstan, signalling a high level of operational coordination between the two nations.

This arrival is being hailed as a major milestone in the pursuit of enhanced regional connectivity and trade integration. By demonstrating the feasibility of direct road transport from Central Asia, the movement paves the way for a more robust economic corridor between Pakistan and landlocked CIS countries. The successful transit highlights the growing role of Pakistan’s infrastructure in providing vital sea-access routes to the Central Asian region through its northern gateways.

Looking forward, authorities are already finalising plans to extend these transport movements beyond the northern border to the major ports in Karachi. This expansion is expected to unlock unprecedented opportunities for landlocked nations to access international markets more efficiently. The establishment of this transport link not only strengthens bilateral ties but also reinforces Pakistan’s strategic position as a pivotal transit hub for regional commerce and connectivity.
