ISLAMABAD: Pakistani students are eligible to apply for New Zealand’s post-study work visa, with authorities describing the eligibility criteria and application process as straight forward.
According to a statement issued by the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, the visa allows international graduates to stay and work in New Zealand for up to three years after completing their studies.
The statement added that holders of this visa may also be eligible to apply for permanent residency, provided they meet the basic requirement of having recently completed a recognised qualification or course in New Zealand.
It further said applicants are generally required to apply within three months of their student visa expiry. However, for PhD graduates, the application window is extended to six months.
In addition, individuals who begin higher studies of less than three months immediately after completing their first eligible qualification may apply within 12 months.
The bureau also stated that applicants must show proof of sufficient funds, with at least NZ$5,000 required to cover living expenses during their stay.
