Sohail Afridi, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, faced a harsh reception during his visit to the Bajaur Scouts, arriving by helicopter. Instead of a warm public welcome, he was met with intense criticism and anger from local residents, signaling a decline in public support for his leadership and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
During the event, local individuals voiced their disapproval by openly rejecting the PTI leadership. In a particularly striking moment, one party worker displayed a message reading Public Rejected alongside images of Engineer Ajmal and former MNA Gul Dad Khan, symbolizing the growing frustration with the ruling party.
At the Bajaur Sports Complex, where the PTI’s local program was being held, empty chairs illustrated the public’s disinterest. The lack of attendance clearly reflected the party’s diminishing popularity and the erosion of public trust in its ability to fulfill its promises.
Experts have noted that increasing disillusionment with PTI’s governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is becoming more evident. The lack of tangible solutions to local problems has deepened the anger and criticism among the public, further weakening the party’s support base. This situation serves as a clear warning for Sohail Afridi and PTI that their hold on public backing is waning.
The visit also witnessed chaos during the Bajaur Peace Jirga, where PTI workers engaged in fistfights, highlighting the internal disarray and lack of discipline within the party. Sources revealed that workers acted impulsively and ignored boundaries or organizational rules, creating an atmosphere of tension and instability. This incident exposed the party’s governance issues, with workers disregarding leadership instructions in favor of emotional outbursts.
Political analysts suggest that such incidents are highly detrimental to PTI’s public image and its ability to govern effectively at the local level. These developments serve as a strong reminder that the party must address both internal and external challenges if it hopes to regain public confidence.
