BAJAUR: Four people were killed and two others injured when an unexploded shell detonated in a field in the Laghrai Mamond area of Bajaur on Saturday.
According to local officials, the victims were working in the field when the device went off. The deceased were identified as Sajjad (18, son of Majeed), Naushad (13, son of Syed Rehman), Fawad (18, son of Dilbar), and Jawad (15, son of Yousaf).
The injured were named as Waqas (17, son of Sher Zaman) and Ataullah (15, son of Gul Wali). All of them were residents of Laghrai Mamond.
The injured, some in critical condition, were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Khar for medical treatment.
Security personnel reached the site shortly after the blast, cordoned off the area, and launched an investigation to determine the origin of the shell.
Law enforcement agencies have already imposed curfew in North Waziristan over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), directing the public to restrict their movement.
The North Waziristan District Administration has issued a notification to impose a complete curfew for two days (September 27 and 28) from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm in view of the security situation.
The District Administration and law enforcement agencies have made it clear that during this time, there will be a complete ban on all types of movement within the district, and all commercial centers, bazaars, and markets will remain closed.
There will be a complete ban on public movement in different areas and roads during the curfew. Therefore, all the public are requested to end all their daily activities in the district on the above dates and cooperate with the law enforcement agencies.
The ban on the movement of the public from sunset to sunrise will remain in effect as usual until further notice.
