PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders addressed the media ahead of the party’s much-anticipated rally scheduled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today (on Saturday).
The leadership outlined their political vision, criticised government policies, and set the stage for what they called a defining moment in the party’s struggle.
JUNAID AKBAR URGES MASS PARTICIPATION
PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar called on supporters, including critics, to join the rally in the name of founding chairman Imran Khan.
“If anyone is upset with us over our shortcomings, they should still come to the rally for Imran Khan,” he said.
Akbar stressed that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be the backbone of the gathering, with attendees from other regions welcomed as guests. He noted that political activity outside the province had been restricted but expressed hope for a larger rally in Islamabad if permission was granted.
ASAD QAISER TAKES AIM AT GOVT
Former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser lashed out at PML-N leaders Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, challenging them to contest elections.
“They say Imran Khan’s name is forgotten. I challenge them, contest elections now, you won’t win even 10 seats,” he claimed.
Qaiser also criticised ongoing military operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, arguing that they had deepened the economic crisis and fuelled unemployment. He questioned the effectiveness of repeated security operations and declared Pakistan would not take part in any future war in Afghanistan.
SALMAN AKRAM RAJA CALLS RALLY “HISTORIC”
PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja termed the upcoming rally “the most important in Pakistan’s history”.
“We have always opposed terrorism and stood united against it,” he said, while voicing solidarity with journalists served notices under the PECA Act.
Raja added that the rally’s outcome would shape PTI’s future strategy, with Imran Khan himself to decide the movement’s next steps.
“From Karachi to Khyber, the voice of this rally will resonate everywhere,” he declared.
