ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) much-hyped “Mission Noor” campaign has ended in failure, as citizens across the country did not come out on their rooftops to give the call to prayer at the designated time.
Following the lack of public participation, the party was forced to circulate AI-generated videos on social media in an attempt to keep the campaign alive.
Notably, several senior leaders, including former president Dr Arif Alvi and ex-federal minister Ali Muhammad Khan, had already distanced themselves from the initiative. Other prominent figures such as Khalid Khurshid and Haleem Adil Sheikh also issued conflicting statements about “Mission Noor,” further exposing divisions within the party.
Political analysts described the campaign’s failure as a major setback for PTI, noting that it was launched at the grassroots level without active involvement from the top leadership. They added that the lack of acceptance from both the public and religious scholars undermined its credibility.
Analysts warned that while playing the “religion card” may bring short-term attention, it risks raising serious questions about the party’s image in the long run.
