ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has successfully acquired 100% of the issued shares of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers. This development marks the beginning of a new phase of digital advancement and empowerment in the country.
Following this agreement, Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers will now operate as wholly owned subsidiaries of PTCL and will join the PTCL Group, which also includes Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (Ufone 4G) and U Microfinance Bank.
During the interim period, Telenor Pakistan will continue its operations as a separate legal entity. However, PTML and Telenor Pakistan are expected to merge into a single entity in the future, pending all necessary regulatory approvals.
On this occasion, PTCL acknowledged the contributions of Telenor ASA to the development of Pakistan’s telecom sector. PTCL noted that Telenor has significantly improved service quality and expanded connectivity over the past two decades. With this milestone reached, both organisations aim to leverage each other’s strengths and resources, allowing them to offer enhanced services, broader network access, and faster innovation to customers.
In the future, the merged entity of Ufone 4G and Telenor Pakistan will be better equipped to increase network capacity, effectively utilise spectrum, and provide modern, secure, and integrated digital services to meet the evolving digital needs of Pakistan.
