ISLAMABAD: The adviser to the Prime Minister and a leading politician of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Rana Sanaullah, has declared that the government would not permit the entry of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders like Sohail Afridi into Islamabad for the street movement of the party.
Speaking to a private news channel, he declared that “Political leaders in Pakistan are frustrated” and in this context criticised the top leadership of PTI for their decision accusing them of circumventing negotiations and exerting pressure through protests. He mentioned the refusal of the founder of PTI to get involved during the Pulwama incident, which he thought pointed out the party’s unwillingness to negotiate.
Rana Sanaullah then remarked that the PTI’s planned protests would be met with very strong resistance. He said that the PTI may not be powerful enough to attain its goals and that the government would prevent any such action of protests. He particularly mentioned that the case of Sohail Afridi would be that he would not be allowed to reach Islamabad.
He talked about the government’s security measures and said that even the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa might have to go through some troubles in getting out of Peshawar because the government is all set up for that.
On the political situation of the opposition, Rana Sanaullah reported that he discussed with the Speaker of the National Assembly who had informed him that the case of opposition leaders would be decided by the courts. He continued that once the official decision is given, it will be acted upon.
Rana Sanaullah ended his remarks by saying that the government had always advocated dialogue over confrontations and promised that the government was ready for any actions PTI might take.
