PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government plans to hand over the management of 72 hospitals of the province through a healthcare reform programme, Health Minister Khaliq-ur-Rehman said. He informed that the provincial government has increased the health sector budget by 22 percent.
According to the minister, the government is adopting different steps for improving healthcare facilities, infrastructure and efficiency in KP.
Khaliq-ur-Rehman said the procurement of medicines had been carried out effectively, and steps were being taken to enhance the performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Healthcare Commission.
The minister called the Sehat Card scheme a unique one, saying that there was no such programme in the whole world like this.
He said that the MTI Act had led to much improvement in hospitals, especially Lady Reading Hospital (LRH).
Khaliq-ur-Rehman further said that there was auditing of hospitals going on, and patient data was being digitized.
As per the statements made by the minister, efforts are being made to set up new hospitals in Peshawar, Malakand, Kohat and other districts.
The government of the province will continue its efforts towards healthcare reforms, digitalization and transparency.
