PESHAWAR: The festive occasion of Eid ul-Fitr was transformed into a harsh reality in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where a total of 484 accidents were recorded in just three days, causing the loss of 40 lives with thousands injured.
The festive period in the province experienced multiple deadly incidents, according to a report from Rescue 1122. The incidents included 484 traffic accidents and 1,261 medical emergencies and 62 fire outbreaks and 33 altercations and 5 drowning incidents and 50 other emergencies.
Rescue 1122 personnel provided medical assistance to 1,993 people including women, children and elderly individuals. The majority of these incidents occurred on roads and at public events which created a holiday emergency service burden for emergency services.
The Director-General of Rescue 1122 announced that the Eid period required extra emergency planning because staff members would stay on duty for emergency situations that needed a fast response. The holiday period experienced a disturbing number of fatal accidents and health emergencies despite all the safety measures that were put in place.
The officials requested that people should take safety measures and adhere to safety protocols to stop similar incidents from happening on the upcoming public holidays.
Thousands visit tourist destinations in KP during Eid holidays
Meanwhile, thousands of people visited different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during Eid ul Fitr holidays and enjoyed their vacations in the scenic locations of the province.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tourism department, 101,420 tourists visited various tourist destinations of the province during the past three days of the Eid holidays, and the influx continues.
It said 58, 2014 tourists visited the Swat valley, Galiyat received 30,450 nature lovers, and Naran Kaghan welcomed 5,754 tourists from parts of the country who enjoyed their Eid holidays in the region’s picturesque locations.
The KP tourism department mentioned that 27 foreigners also paid visits to different hotspots and spent quality time.
Tourists also thronged the tourist places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chitral and Dir Upper Kumrat during the last three days, and more are on the way to travel to the destinations.
