BUNER: A prolonged 18-hour power outage has left residents of Buner frustrated, disrupting daily life, businesses, and essential services across multiple areas of the district.
Local sources said electricity was cut off early sunday morning and was not restored until late at night, leaving households without power for most of the day amid rising summer heat. Temperatures in the region crossed 38°C during the outage.
Residents complained that prolonged load-shedding has become routine, with the latest outage severely affecting water supply, mobile networks, and small businesses. Patients and students were among the worst hit due to lack of fans and study light.
Protests were reported in several bazaars as citizens blocked roads demanding immediate restoration and accountability from PESCO officials. Traders said the unscheduled outage caused heavy financial losses.
PESCO officials have yet to issue a detailed statement on the cause of the breakdown. Residents have urged authorities to ensure uninterrupted supply, especially during peak summer.
