ISLAMABAD: Newly elected Mayor of New York City, Asian-American Democratic Socialist Zahran Mamdani, has revealed himself to be a big fan of Pakistani former cricketer and commentator Ramiz Raja. The speech went viral on social media on Thursday.
Mr Mamdani was elected as the mayor of New York City on Tuesday. A video from his election campaign is circulating on social media platforms, and Ramiz Raja has since shared it.

In the viral video, Zahran is seen addressing his team. To boost their enthusiasm, he quoted Ramiz Raja, stating, “To snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.”
Former Pakistani cricketer Ramiz Raja reshared the video on the social media platform X and congratulated Mamdani. He said, “Congratulations, Mr Mamdani, and thank you for being a fan of commentary. You have exposed those who do not play cricket by playing with a straight bat. I am very proud of you.”
