ISLAMABAD: The study found that human sleep-wake behavior comprises five distinct patterns. The research established that people sleep in three different patterns which people use to wake up and sleep.

The research study published in Nature Communications journal used data from 27000 people to conduct its analysis. The researchers created these groups to show how different people live their lives and how their health and mental state and behavioral patterns differ.

The study identifies five sleep groups which contain the following members:

Late-Night Sleepers – Group One

The group remains awake through the night while they develop dangerous sleep patterns. The group struggles with emotional control but possesses strong cognitive abilities. The group members share their home with children while driving fast and using mobile phones excessively and smoking and experiencing limited daylight exposure.

Late-Night Sleepers – Group Two

This group includes people who stay up late playing video games. The group consists of people who work at lower-paying jobs and who lack physical activity. The group members experience smoking and depression and face increased risk of heart disease.

Late-Night Sleepers – Group Three

The group contains mostly men who deal with two specific health problems which include hair loss and bladder disorders. The group contains active smokers who demonstrate high risk-taking behavior. The group has a common pattern of experiencing depression together with high blood pressure.

Early Risers – Group One

The group contains people who work in education and who avoid tobacco use and dangerous activities. People experience less emotional distress while having improved emotional control but they need to stop early wake ups because it creates anxiety. The participants reported health problems at lower rates than other groups.

Early Risers – Group One

The first group contains people who have links to educational systems and who do not use tobacco products and who stay away from dangerous activities. The group displays better emotional control which enables them to function normally while experiencing anxiety when they need to wake up early. The overall health complaints from the group have decreased according to their reports.

Early Risers – Group Two

The group consists of women. The researchers discovered that the participants experienced increased depressive symptoms together with patterns of negative thought which showed their bias against others.

Researchers identified genetic factors together with environmental elements and lifestyle choices as the components which shape sleep patterns. They explained that different people need different sleep patterns because every sleep pattern provides unique advantages together with distinctive drawbacks.
