PESHAWAR: (SALMAN YOUSAFZAI)The Young Nurses Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has expressed deep concern over the death of a nurse and demanded a high-level and authoritative inquiry.

According to the Young Nurses Association, the deceased nurse was previously serving in Emergency Room No. 21 of Lady Reading Hospital and some sources claim that she was allegedly facing mental stress and harassment while she was also demanded to resign. The association says that the deceased was suffering from severe mental stress for the past few days and her dead body was brought to Lady Reading Hospital, on which the organization has demanded a transparent investigation and determination of those responsible.

On the other hand, the Lady Reading Hospital administration has strongly rejected these allegations. According to the hospital administration, the deceased nurse had resigned from her post in August 2025 and was not an employee of LRH at the time of her death. The administration maintains that the deceased neither died at Lady Reading Hospital nor did the incident have any connection with the hospital administration. However, the deceased’s body was brought to LRH yesterday evening, which the family later took back of their own accord.

The LRH administration says that it is inappropriate for some quarters to level allegations against the Nursing Director. According to the administration, hundreds of female nurses are currently serving in the hospital with dignity and the nursing staff is receiving full support from Nursing Director Rehmatullah. The hospital administration has denied all the allegations leveled by the Nursing Association and clarified that the institution is proud of the services of its nurses.
