PESHAWAR: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced the end of the strike, and the Out-Patient Departments (OPDs) will resume operations from today.
The decision to end the strike was made at the Young Doctors Association general council meeting. The Kohat token strike will continue as scheduled, according to the announcement. The association confirmed that all OPDs in the province will begin their standard operations from the next day.
The YDA has suspended its strike but it has given the provincial government one week to fulfil their demands. The association will initiate a complete hospital shutdown throughout the province if their demands remain unaddressed.
Lady doctor gunned down in Kohat
It is worth mentioning that on February 23, the unabated wave of Terrorism continues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a lady doctor was shot dead in Kohat.
Lady Dr. Mehwish was returning home after finishing her duty when unknown armed men opened fire on her indiscriminately on the double road.
As a result of the shooting, she died on the spot, while the attackers fled.
Meanwhile, the Young Doctors Association has reacted strongly to the murder of Lady Dr. Mehwish and announced the closure of the hospital, as a result of which patients are facing difficulties.
Young Doctors Association President Dr. Obaid says that until the accused involved in the incident are arrested, the protest will continue and a complete strike will be called.
He has demanded from the government and law enforcement agencies to immediately arrest and punish the murderers.
On the other hand, according to the police, an investigation has been launched into the incident involving Lady Dr. Mehwish, and evidence is being collected.
The search for the accused is ongoing in the light of CCTV footage and eyewitness statements.
