CHARSADA (Alaf Khan Sherpaw): At least four people, including a father and son, were killed when firing erupted between two rival groups during Taraweeh prayers in Shabqadar tehsil on Sunday night, police and local sources said.

The incident occurred at Al-Daad Khel Mosque in the Battagram area of Shabqadar, spreading panic among worshippers. According to reports, the clash stemmed from a dispute between the parties, following which gunfire was opened inside the mosque premises.

The deceased were identified as Parvez, son of Mehrdal, and Inayat, son of Jan Muhammad, from one side, and Ayaz, son of Toorsam, and Zakir Ayaz, residents of Al-Daad Khel, Battagram, from the opposing group. Several other people present in the mosque sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the scene shortly after being informed and shifted the bodies and injured to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Shabqadar, for medical assistance.

Police officials said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances and motive behind the incident.
