WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has made an aggressive statement to the Iranians, saying that today an entire civilization will perish forever. This comes as the United States and Iran have escalated tensions by using aggressive statements against each other and military provocations.
Trump said, “Today, an entire civilization will be buried so deeply that it will never emerge again. But this is not what I want this is inevitable.”
This increases fears that the situation in the Middle East will get even worse since no actions on the part of either side show that the situation might get better. However, US Vice President J.D. Vance believes that the military goals of the United States in Iran have been met already. He stressed that the USA wants to prevent the development of nuclear weapons in Iran and issued a tough ultimatum to the Iranians: “Iranians need to choose to become a regular country or become a terrorist state.”
Furthermore, Vance also said, “It’s not who God is on our side or anyone else’s side. We have to pray that they don’t get the nuclear bomb because what they want to do is damage the world economically, and Trump and I don’t want to see that happen.”
Additionally, Vance highlighted that even though Iran wanted negotiations in the beginning, the country is now delaying in the discussions, thereby making it difficult to find a solution.
The statements were made amidst the energy crisis facing the USA and European countries, where Vance congratulated the Hungarian Prime Minister for handling the energy problems effectively. Vance also mentioned that relations between the USA and Hungary will become stronger in the coming times.
In response to the threats posed by Trump, Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, ignored Trump’s words, stating that they were acts of desperation and incompetence on the part of the USA leadership.
“The threats and noises made by the war criminals are just the result of their fear and attempt to cause chaos, but we will not budge,” said Khamenei.
In what was an act of defiance, the Deputy Minister of Sports for Iran asked Iranians to join in forming human chains around key infrastructure like power stations, in an act of protest towards Trump’s intimidation tactics.
As this continues to escalate into a matter of global interest, the world watches anxiously on how this issue will play out.
