ISLAMABAD: Pakistan household gas consumers will get a major relief from the federal government’s announcement of a substantial increase in gas supply to domestic consumers during the winter season throughout the country.
The announcement was made at a meeting, which was directed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and was chaired by Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Parvez Malik.
Minister Malik assured that consumers would receive an extra gas supply to meet rising demand during cold months, according to the government’s winter gas supply plan. “The government is fully aware that providing sufficient gas to households is a matter of utmost importance, and we will certainly achieve it in this winter season, ” Malik said, drawing the government’s attention to its commitment to relief provision.
Besides, the gathering emphasized the reliability of gas supply initiatives in various locations. A release stated that in December 2025, SNGPL supplied 95 MMCFD of gas more than the previous year’s, and SSGC also contributed 32 MMCFD of gas more during the same period.
In an effort to ensure better service, the federal minister mentioned that modern IoT (Internet of Things) technology and a Town Border System had been installed in the last-mile areas of the gas network for pressure monitoring. He also directed SSGC to further improve its pressure and alarm systems in tail-end areas.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) audit report revealed that 98.5% of SNGPL’s customer complaints and 97% of SSGC’s customer complaints were resolved within the designated time frame. In light of this, Minister Malik urged for a feedback mechanism to be established for customers following the resolution of complaints.
