After the International Cricket Council (ICC) expelled Bangladesh from the T20 World Cup for refusing to play in India, there is still a question mark over the participation of the Pakistan cricket team in the event.
The Pakistan cricket team has been announced for the ICC T20 World Cup, but will Pakistan play the World Cup? PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is expected to hold an important meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today for consultation on this.
Sources say that the meeting will discuss issues related to participating in the T20 World Cup or not. According to sources, it has also been decided to consult Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar regarding participating in the T20 World Cup or not.
In this regard, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar says that consultations are underway, the government will play a role, and the decision will be informed. Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi says that the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s stance is based on principles, rejecting the double standards of the ICC.
Mohsin Naqvi said that politicized cricket is not in anyone’s interest. Everyone should follow the principles of cricket, our players are capable and know how to compete in every respect. Success in any field is achieved through teamwork.
Earlier, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that the government of Pakistan is more subordinate to the ICC, and the decision regarding participation in the T20 World Cup will be made by the government of Pakistan.
It should be remembered that a few days ago, the Bangladesh Cricket Board refused to go to India to play T20 World Cup matches due to security concerns. The Bangladesh Board’s stance was that its matches should be shifted to Sri Lanka due to security concerns.
However, the ICC rejected the Bangladesh Board’s position and included Scotland in the mega event instead of Bangladesh. Recently, news had emerged from sources that Pakistan is also likely to boycott if Bangladesh refuses to participate in the World Cup. It should be noted that the T20 World Cup is scheduled to start on February 7, and Pakistan’s matches in the event are scheduled in Sri Lanka.
