PESHAWAR: The Meteorological Department has forecast a new western weather system expected to impact Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, bringing strong winds, thunderstorms, and rain to the province. This system is anticipated to affect most districts within the next 3 to 6 hours.

According to the weather alert issued by the department, heavy rainfall and hailstorms may occur in specific locations during this time. The provincial capital, Peshawar, along with Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi, Kurram, and Bajaur, is expected to experience thunderstorms and rain.

In the southern districts, including Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Karak, and Kohat, gusty winds, thunderstorms, and rain are also likely. The Merged Areas of Mohmand and Orakzai are predicted to have cloudy weather with rainfall.

Northern and upper districts, including Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Buner, Malakand, Shangla, and Kohistan, are under an alert for heavy rainfall as well. The hilly areas of Swat, Kalam, Dir, and Chitral may also experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning strikes.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel during this adverse weather and to take necessary precautions.

Dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, however, rain-wind thunderstorm is likely at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas.

Similarly, on Wednesday Dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during evening/night.

Rain-windstorm/thunderstorm occurred in Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. Dry weather prevailed elsewhere in the country.
