PESHAWAR: A spectacular auction of personalised “Marks Choice” vehicle number plates was held at Nishtar Hall here, drawing strong public interest and fetching record-breaking bids for several premium numbers.
According to officials, the auction witnessed enthusiastic participation, with many choice number plates sold at exceptionally high prices. The number plate Wazir 1 topped the auction after being sold for Rs15 million, making it the highest bid of the event.
Another highly sought-after number plate, Afridi 1, was sold for Rs14.05 million. The plate was purchased by Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi, attracting significant attention during the bidding process.
Among other prominent numbers, Khan 1 also received a strong response from bidders. The number plate was auctioned for bids ranging between Rs 10 million and Rs 11 million, and was eventually purchased by MPA Naik Muhammad Khan.
The Peshawar 1 number plate was auctioned for Rs10 million, while Haripur 1 was sold for Rs8 million, reflecting continued interest in district-based premium number plates.
Several other personalised plates were also auctioned at notable prices. Yousafzai 1 was sold for Rs 49.20 lakh, while Durrani 1 fetched Rs 16.60 lakh. Meanwhile, Malakand 1 was auctioned for Rs1.25 lakh, and Swabi 1 was sold for Rs1.20 lakh.
Officials said the strong response from the public highlighted growing interest in personalised vehicle registration numbers and the success of the auction process. They added that the revenue generated from the auction would contribute to government funds.
The authorities further announced that the auction of choice number plates would continue in the future through e-bidding, allowing wider participation and greater transparency in the process.
The event concluded with officials terming the auction a major success due to the high bids and enthusiastic public involvement.
