PESHAWAR: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has announced the closure of some sections of the M-1 Motorway for all kinds of traffic.
According to the NHMP announcement, the M-1 Motorway closed from Rashkai (KM 459) to Peshawar Main Toll Plaza (KM 498) due to thick fog.

The density of the fog has reduced the visibility to such a level that, it is very dangerous for people to walk or drive in the area. The drivers are advised to take different routes until the fog lifts and the weather gets better.
The NHMP also requested to keep the front and back fog lights on during the journey in order to be visible to others in the road and thus prevent an incident. Also, it was recommended that one should travel in daylight during the foggy season. Closing the motorway is intended to prevent accidents and save the lives and property of the motorway users. The motorway police instructed to refrain from speeding and maintain a longer distance than usual from the vehicle ahead.
Motorway police also advised citizens to avoid unnecessary journeys in the early hours. National Highways and Motorway Police urged the public to maintain a greater distance between vehicles and to always get advice from the helpline 130 before setting off for the most up-to-date traffic and weather information.
