SYDNEY: Virat Kohli has surpassed the Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
The Indian batsman hits 74 runs during the third ODI at Sydney and emphatically led India to a comfortable nine-wicket victory after he had started batting with his made-up number of eight 4s and making 81 balls in total.
The top run-scored batsman was Virat Kohli with 14,255 runs made in 305 matches for an average of 57.71. Kumar Sangakkara made 12,234 runs in 404 ODIs but never went beyond the 100-run mark.
Indian batting legend, Sachin Tendulkar is still the highest run-scorer in ODIs of all time with 18,426 runs in 463 matches at an average of 44.83.

The match victory for India was in the third ODI at Sydney where Kohli and Rohit Sharma led the attack brilliantly, the former scoring a ton and being named the Best Player of the Match. Australia had clinched the series 2–1, but India’s win in the final one-day match gave them a consolation of some sort.
