PESHAWAR: United States Ambassador to Pakistan Natalie A. Baker called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor’s House in Peshawar on Wednesday and discussed investment and bilateral cooperation.

US Consul General in Peshawar Thomas Eckert was also present during the meeting. The two sides discussed bilateral relations, matters of mutual interest, and investment opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Governor Kundi briefed the visiting dignitary on the province’s tourism potential, particularly religious tourism, as well as ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting industrial development, youth empowerment, and women’s independence.

He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held great importance due to its geographical location and natural resources, adding that the province was striving to attract investment in key sectors. “America is our development partner and a friendly country. We wish to further expand bilateral cooperation in various sectors,” Mr Kundi stated.

Highlighting education as a key area of collaboration, the governor remarked that “the best and most valuable investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is providing scholarships to our youth in American educational institutions.”

He also noted the province’s talent in sports and education, stressing the government’s efforts to promote youth development and industrial growth. “With cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, sustainable development goals can be achieved in the province,” he added.

During the meeting, the governor also presented the US ambassador with a traditional Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shawl.

Ambassador Baker thanked Governor Kundi for the warm hospitality, acknowledging the long-standing friendly relations between the people of Pakistan and the United States. She expressed sympathy for the sacrifices of the people, police, and security forces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the fight against terrorism, and appreciated the governor’s commitment to advancing development and prosperity in the province in collaboration with the provincial government.
