BAJAUR: Personnel of Counter Terrorism department(CTD) was martyred as a result of firing by unknown miscreants in Meena area of Tehsil Mamond of Bajaur district.
According to the police, the firing incident took place suddenly in which the official was seriously injured and died on the spot.
According to police sources, the martyred official has been identified as a resident of Saipur, resident of Meena. The accused managed to escape after the incident.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, a large contingent of police and security forces reached the spot and a search operation was launched in surrounding the area. Police say that raids are being conducted at various places to arrest the attackers and a blockade has also been imposed in the area.
According to police officials, in the light of initial evidence, various aspects of the incident are being investigated, while the possibility of terrorism is not being ruled out.
The funeral prayer of the martyred official will be performed with official honors at Bajaur Police Lines, in which a large number of police officers, security personnel, district administration and citizens are expected to participate.
The police and district administration have expressed their determination that the blood of the martyr will not be allowed to go in vain and the accused will be brought to justice soon.
