ISLAMABAD: Concerns are mounting over the UN Human Rights X account, with critics accusing the platform of making a mockery of the United Nations by pursuing a “terrorist Taliban agenda.”
The controversy centres on the account’s failure to mention any of the actions taken by the Taliban against Pakistan. While the UN platform has been active in promoting narratives originating from Kabul, it has reportedly not dedicated a single word to the ongoing cross-border terrorism and operations targeting Pakistan.
#Afghanistan/#Pakistan: We call for investigations & accountability for last night’s tragic blast at a drug rehabilitation centre in Kabul, that left scores of patients dead. All parties must take effective measures to ensure the protection of civilians.https://t.co/xnPFc5oIkJ pic.twitter.com/iEmwweqN8g

Critics argue that by ignoring these ground realities, the UN’s social media presence is being utilised as a tool for propaganda, undermining the organisation’s neutrality. The silence regarding the facilitation of terrorist elements on Afghan soil has led to accusations that the platform is actively participating in a campaign to defame Pakistan internationally while ignoring the security threats the country faces.
