Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, concluded his first one-day visit to Pakistan on Friday after engaging in extensive discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to an official statement issued by the press information department, during their meetings, the two leaders focused on further strengthening the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and the UAE, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office. They reviewed the progress in ongoing areas of cooperation and explored new opportunities for collaboration across various sectors.
Both the UAE president and Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasised the importance of enhancing cooperation in areas such as economic investment, energy, infrastructure development, information technology, and technology, as well as promoting exchanges between their peoples.
At the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, paid an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 26 December 2025. This marked His Highness’s first official visit to Pakistan in his capacity as President of the United Arab Emirates.
His Highness was greeted with the greatest warmth and cordial welcome upon his arrival. A formation of JF-17 fighter jets escorted the Royal aircraft as it entered Pakistani airspace. His Highness and the accompanying high-level delegation were received by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, as well as Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at Nur Khan Airbase. Other senior members of the Cabinet and government officials were also present to receive the UAE dignitary.
During the visit, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed held substantive talks with the Prime Minister. Their discussions focused on the exchange of views on further strengthening the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. The two leaders reviewed the progress achieved in ongoing areas of cooperation and also explored avenues to deepen engagement across a wide range of sectors.
Both sides underscored the importance of expanding collaboration in economic cooperation, investment, energy, infrastructure development, IT, technology and people-to-people exchanges. They also agreed on the need to enhance bilateral trade, which had great potential for mutually beneficial growth.
The two leaders also exchanged views on important regional and international developments and reaffirmed their shared commitment to continue close coordination on matters of mutual interest.
While expressing their satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, the two leaders reiterated their determination to continue to work together closely to advance the shared objective of peace, stability, and sustainable development.
The visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will further consolidate the deep brotherly ties between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates and contribute to further strengthening their strategic partnership.
