ISLAMABAD: Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will land in Pakistan today for an official visit. This visit is a step forward in the cordial relations between the two countries, which have been developed through mutual trust and long-term cooperation.
During his stay, the UAE President will engage with the Pakistani leadership, including President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Apart from establishing the traditional routes of communication among the top political figures of the two countries, these meetings will mainly deal with the collaboration in various fields like trade, investment, and the energy sector.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that the visit of the UAE President will be a step towards a better and more cooperative relationship.
To commemorate the occasion of President Zayed’s coming, the government of Pakistan has made today a public holiday in Islamabad. Thus, all federal institutions such as the Pakistan Secretariat and other state offices, will be non-operational.
Both the National Assembly and the Senate secretariats are not on duty today, either. In addition to this, the Islamabad High Court and all inferior courts have announced the discontinuation of their services on December 26, 2025, owing to the President’s tour.
On the other hand, core services will carry on as usual. Hospitals, banks and the offices that provide essential utilities like electricity, gas and water supply will be open as well. Public transport, Metro Bus Service, will also operate as per the normal timetable.
This trip is a major indicator in the journey of fortifying ties between Pakistan and the UAE, which both countries are planning to do via enhanced cooperation in different fields.
