HARARE: Pakistan U-19 cricket team is set to face Zimbabwe in its final group match today at the World Cup U19 in Harare.
For Pakistan, this match is a must-win to make it to the next stage of the tournament. The beginning of the match is at 12:30 PM PST.
The Pakistan team was first in Harare and practised to get acclimatised to the weather and the type of pitch.
The success of today’s match not only assures Pakistan’s advancement to the next round but also a team performance and an uplift in morale.
The coaches and management have been reiterating the need to have an impact during the game, and they have encouraged the players to show their best against Zimbabwe.
The young all-rounder of Pakistan, Ahmed Hussain, was the most talked about player in the last match of Pakistan with his outstanding fielding skills; he was the new idol of the tournament. In Harare, Pakistan’s Under-19 took a straightforward 6-wicket victory over Scotland as their first win.
During the game, Pakistan played first and managed to contain Scotland to only 187 runs. Although the entire Pakistani fielding unit was performing wonderfully, it was Ahmed Hussain’s astonishing catch in the 45th over that caught everyone’s attention. He was fielding at long-off, and just when everybody thought it was a leading edge from the Scottish batsman Mano Saraswat, Hussain dived and took a brilliant catch. The audience was amazed and Pakistan’s high fielding standard was back on the first page of the paper.
Earlier in the tournament, Ahmed had already made a wonderful catch, which was a great contribution to the team, making him more recognised as a quick fielder.
